Isn’t yoga just for women?
More men practice yoga than you think. In fact, most classes in the US are about 30-50% men. Yoga has so much to offer men. All of the benefits of yoga are afforded to both men and women. Plus it helps men perform their chosen competitive sports better – such as running, golf, tennis and even football!
Am I too old to start yoga?
Yoga allows you to trade in characteristics of old age for characteristics of youth. The following are some of the anti-aging effects of yoga according to Dr. Paul Galbraith, author of “Reversing Aging”: live longer, increased resistance to disease., increased vitality, rejuvenation of the glands, look and feel younger, mental and emotional benefits. It’s never too late to start.
What type of yoga do you teach?
Koi Yoga and Fitness focuses on an alignment based approach to yoga. Alignment based Hatha yoga is a systematic approach that allows students of all ages and abilities to learn the techniques of proper alignment, breathing, strength, balance and flexibility. See class descriptions for more details.
I’m not sure I’m ready. Can I just try a class?
At Koi Yoga & Fitness we offer a 2 class for $20 special for first time yoga students so that you can experience the joy of yoga prior to making a package commitment. We also offer personal training sessions in single session options.
What do I wear?
Wear comfortable loose clothing.
How do I know what level class to take?

How often do I need to take class?
Yoga classes and personal training session frequency is based upon your availability and commitment. Koi Yoga & Fitness offers a variety of classes and session throughout the entire day, every day of the week for maximum availability for our students. Obviously, the greater your frequency of practice, the more rapid your experience of progress. See class schedules for details.
How many training sessions do I need?
Koi Yoga & Fitness offers a variety of training options for its clients. Half hour or full hour sessions with discounts are available for session package purchases. Establishing a fitness routine is the first step to reaping the benefits of a strong body.
Why should I hire a personal trainer?
A personal trainer can offer you Safety, Variety, Results, Accountability, Consistency and Motivation in a way that you cannot experience on your own.
Will I get bulky muscles from weight training?
No! That’s actually one of the biggest myths about weight training. Many women fear working out with weights. They think they will become masculine and muscle bound. Nothing could be further from the truth. Women don’t have the same genetic potential to gain muscle that men do.
Doesn’t weight training make you inflexible?
The truth is that most people gain improved flexibility and range of motion in joints when following a weight training program. Furthermore, to compliment the aerobic conditioning and muscle development of its personal training clients, Koi Yoga & Fitness encourages its clients to participate in the studio yoga practice.
